Lift Chairs

If it becoming difficult or painful to get in and out of your chair, a lift chair can take away a lot of the difficulty.

Lift chairs are a great solution for those who have difficulties with hips, knees and legs.

The chair is operated by a simple hand switch which when activated will start to slowly raise the chair on an angle which allows you so straighten up and easily walk from the chair.

The chair will remain in the elevated position until you want to sit again and as you position yourself and press the button, the chair will start to lower and allow you to easily resume yur seated position.

A liftchair can make all the difference and they come in many different shapes and sizes.

Most lift chairs are electrically operated by a small electric motor which when activated will slowly rise or lower the chair. Some also come with a battery backup system which is useful if you live in an area where the electricity sometimes cuts out.

Some lifting chairs also have a reclining feature.

The reclining function is also operated by the hand switch and will usually have a number of different reclining positions, some even fold flat into a sleeping position.

If you are considering a lift chair there area few things to take into account, the more advanced features will obviously cost a little more but will make the chair more flexible.

The choice of fabric is another consideration, as these chairs are available in a wide range of fabrics including leather, and some have memory foam similar to that on the adjustable beds.

Weight is another consideration as this will play a part in the power of the motor you choose.

Most lift chairs work in the same way and as you can see from this video they are very easy and smooth to operate.

Some lift chairs operate differently and only the seat of the chair raise, this is a better design for a higher chair or winged chair like the one pictured here.

These chairs are less expensive because they do not have the same functionality as the other lift chairs pictured above.
