Bath lifts are a popular alternative to a walk in bath tub.
Bath lifts come in a number of different styles to suite most needs and are a more affordable option if money is tight but you are having difficulty getting in and out of the bath.
This first type of bath lift works with either hydraulic or air filled apparatus which lowers the seat into the bath and then raises it so that you can simply swing your legs over the side of the bath from a sitting position.
There are a few different styles available, and some will lift the chair out of the bath and then swing it away from the bath so that you can then lower it to sealing level.
This type of bathlift are usually prices from £250 - £350
This type of bath lift works like a sling. A roll of fabric is concealed in the container and is stretched tight across the bath. Once seated on the fabric, the push of a button will release more fabric from the roll and lower you gently into the bath.
The fabric container houses an electric motor which is either controlled from the unit itself or a separate hand control.
When not in use this type of bath lift will fully roll up into the housing allowing others to use the bath easily.
These electrical bath lifts are a little more expensive but can be more convenient if there are more people using the bat at other times.
The is around £800 - £1,000
Yet another type of of bath lift is the inflatable bath lift.
These come in a variety of shapes but they all work on the same principle.
And external air pump inflates the device, bringing it up to the the same hight as the lip of the bath. You then sit on the inflated chair and release the air slowly to lower yourself into the bath.
The chair can then be re-inflated via the hand switch which will fill the chair with air and raise you to the top of the bath once more.
These types of bath lifts start at about £350 and go up from there.(no pun intended)
More complicated types of bath lifts are available but the cost become very close to that of the walk in bath tubs. So consideration would have to be made.
