Memory foam bed and mattresses have become very popular and are coming down in price all of the time.
Memory foam was developed by NASA to decrease the very high pressure felt by astronauts during the take-off of the space shuttle.
It was next used for patients who used to lie in bed on hard or very firm mattresses for long periods of time without regularly moving. With the use of memory foam beds instead of conventional mattresses the pressure over some of their bony regions was decreased and many of the associated problems were released.
Memory foam is more firm in colder temperatures and softer in hotter temperatures. So the mattress will change its firmness the longer you lie on it, slowly moulding to your shape and depressing more in the heavier areas.
As the memory foam mattress moulds itself to your shape it provides support to the whole of your body.
There are no pressure points which happen with conceptional mattresses, a memory foam mattress will sort of hug and support your body and allows you to fully relax.
Most foam mattresses have a number of different layers of foam, a dense layer on the bottom and a layer of the memory foam on the top.
If you are interested in a memory form bed it is always advised to actually try one out first and then get the specifications from the bed manufacturer as some use much less of the actual memory foam than others.
A good depth of memory foam will allow the bed to support you better.
It is also possible to get an adjustable bed which has a memory foam mattress and also adjustable air filled beds like the sleep number bed come with the memory foam option.
If you think a memory foam bed would be good for you and if you are also thinking about an adjustable bed. Check out the various ranges and test them first. Memory foam beds are not right for everyone, but in the right circumstances they can make a big difference to the quality of your sleep.
